J-FestGuide allows you to find Japanese festivals (called Matsuri or Omatsuri) at your fingertips! You can search Omatsuri by dates, regions, and types of festivals. You can see the Omatsuri details in English and Japanese. You can share your favorite matsuri with your friends or family, and even schedule it in your digital calendar as well. Also, you can bookmark your favorite Matsuri and leave your rates and comments if you create an account!
There are many types of festivals in Japan, such as very traditional rituals held at shrines, fireworks, spring flower festivals, summer bon-dance festivals and local food events. Some of them are annual, occurring every year on the same fixed date, while others are decided several months before the festival day.
When you visit Japan, you don’t want to miss participating in any of the Omatsuri because you’ll find more interesting facts about Japan by joining them 🙂 This app will help you to find interesting Japanese festivals before and even during your visit in Japan!
Here’s everything you can do with J-FestGuide:
・ Search Omatsuri by Dates, Months, Region, Categories (e.g. Fireworks, Food, Ritual, Unique, etc.)
・ View videos of each Omatsuri (via YouTube)
・ View recent photos from each Omatsuri relevant photos (via Instagram)
・ Check the location of each Omatsuri locations (via Google Maps)
・ Learn the details of each Omatsuri (Date, Time, Festival committee’s website URL, Phone no. and Venue address)
・ Share the Omatsuri event via SNS
・ Receive a notification when a new festival is added to the list (You can disable this function too.)
・ Add event schedule to your calendar (Google, iCal, Yahoo, Outlook) *iCal works only in Safari browser.
・ Bookmark Omatsuri and leave rates & comments if you register via SNS or email

How To Use
If you know when you will visit Japan:
1. From Homepage, select your language
2. Choose festival category (if not particular, choose “All Categories”)
3. Enter your date of arrival and departure
4. Press Search
5. The Festivals being held during your stay will be listed
If you search for Omatsuri by area:
1. Tap the Japan map
2. Tap the area you want to search
3. A list of Omatsuri in the area will be shown. You can also filter the result by Category, Months, etc.
If you search by the type of Omatsuri:
1. Tap the menu icon at the top right
2. Select “Matsuri by Category”
3. Choose the Matsuri Category
4. A list of Omatsuri will be shown. You can also filter the result by Regions, Dates, Months, etc.
